APOD 1.3

This image, which was featured on January 21, 2007, depicts the Sombrero Galaxy, a large, ring-shaped galaxy located in the Virgo cluster. The Sombrero galaxy, sitting at a distant twenty-eight million light years away and fifty thousand across, contains a large amount of interstellar dust in the middle, which is noticeable in the infrared light of the picture. See Explanation.
